Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS: Ethmoidectomy)

Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) may be considered when chronic rhinosinusitis (including ethmoid sinusitis) still has obvious symptoms or recurrent infections despite standard medication and irrigation. The decision is based on findings from nasal endoscopy and sinus CT scans, whether accompanied by nasal polyps or anatomical obstruction, previous treatment response, and overall health, and assesses whether simultaneous treatment of septal or turbinate problems is needed.
