Esophageal Stent Placement

Esophageal self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) may be considered when tumor stenosis causes significant dysphagia requiring improved eating, or when there is an esophagotracheal fistula requiring closure. The decision is based on symptom severity, tumor stage and overall treatment plan (e.g., radiotherapy/surgery), bleeding and perforation risks, and device compatibility.
