Distal Pancreatectomy

Distal pancreatectomy may be considered for benign or low-grade malignant lesions located in the body and tail of the pancreas (such as mucinous cystic tumors, some branch-type intraductal papillary mucinous tumors, some neuroendocrine tumors) or lesions with clear symptoms that are difficult to control. The decision focuses on the pathological nature and risk of malignancy, the relationship with the splenic vessels, the general condition and surgical tolerance, and the results of imaging and multidisciplinary evaluation.
