Airway Stent Placement

Stent placement may be considered to maintain the airway when tumor invasion or compression causes significant central airway stenosis or collapse, or when tracheoesophageal fistula exists. The decision focuses on the site and length of the lesion, the risk of infection and bleeding, whether combined tumor treatment is required, anesthesia tolerance, and whether an appropriate size is available.
