Polydactyly Excision and Thumb/Digit Reconstruction

Removal and reconstruction can be considered when extra thumb/fingers cause appearance or functional problems, unstable grasping, poor interdigital alignment, or nail deformities. The decision is based on the type and grade of duplication, the extent of bone and joint involvement, the course of blood vessels and nerves, previous treatment and risk of recurrence, and overall health and anesthesia assessment.
